5 most interesting home projects in Singapore
Houses in Singapore aren’t made equal, obviously. Even though most of us live in high-rise apartments (think: HDB flats), some home projects are more exciting than others.
All of us need a roof over our heads although we know that houses aren’t that cheap in Singapore no matter how much we wished prices would swoop down. Here, we at GET.com have rounded up 5 of the most interesting home projects in Singapore.
1. Corals at Keppel Bay

Everybody knows that properties at Keppel Bay are pricey like those in Sentosa Cove, right? But if you must know, Corals at Keppel Bay will be home to wealthy people as well as marine life when it’s ready.
According to a news report, Keppel Land will be working on enhancing the marine habitat in the waters next to the waterfront condominium Corals at Keppel Bay, by transplanting naturally-occurring hard corals onto man-made fibreglass reefs. These man-made fibreglass reef structures furnish substrates that enhance the reef’s complexity and stimulate greater marine habitat formation.
2. The Interlace

Have you seen The Interlace along Depot Road up close? These stacked residential blocks sure look intimidating since they don’t ‘fit’ neatly like we’d expect most building structures to.
Nestled in the green belt of the Southern Ridges, The Interlace is a condominium comprising 31 blocks of 6-storey-tall structures that jut out at sharp right angles. The queer design results in space apt for sky terraces, roof gardens and sizeable balconies with ample lush greenery.
3. Kampung Admiralty

For those who aren’t quite familiar with Kampung Admiralty, this 2014 integrated development by HDB is a senior-friendly one that’s slated to be ready in 2017. Besides elderly-friendly studio apartments, healthcare & eldercare facilities, the development also boasts smart, tiered rain gardens and vegetated swales that will retain and treat over 30 per cent of the site area’s rainwater runoff.
According to HDB, the ground tier will house retail shops and a community plaza; the mid tier will house a hawker centre and the 2-storey Admiralty Medical Centre; while the top tier will house studio apartments, roof gardens, a childcare centre, eldercare amenities, and a function hall.
4. Waterway Terraces

Have you been to Punggol yet? It’s a pretty kid-friendly neighbourhood, by the way. Sure, Punggol may have more BTO flats than your fingers and toes added up, but Waterway Terraces is bound to stand out from the crowd. To be frank, this development’s façade certainly isn’t everyone’s cup of tea.
Nevertheless, this premium BTO project that’s located right next to Waterway Point, the only decent suburb shopping mall in Punggol for now, has proven to be extremely popular during the sales launch a few years back.
Its cascading roof gardens are open to the public, and some of these roof gardens boast fitness stations and playgrounds, too.
Try venturing up there in your free time to get a glimpse of the the meandering waterway and the neighbourhood in general! First-timers may get lost wandering around the HDB blocks, though. I’ve recently gone there just for fun with my boyfriend who’s better at navigating.
5. South Beach

The Bugis area may be your go-to hipster chill-out region in Singapore, but this area has a spanking new addition that’s bound to rejuvenate the precinct. Enter South Beach.
For people who are clueless, South Beach is a mixed-use development on Beach Road that amalgamates the 4 historic buildings on site with 2 new soaring towers that house luxurious residences, offices, retail spaces, as well as a designer hotel.
Yes, if you’ve watched Asia’s Next Top Model Cycle 4, you would have seen the cycle’s model house being none other than South Beach Hotel.
Did you know that South Beach is committed to being as eco-friendly as possible? South Beach’s engineered canopy is able to harvest rainwater while the fitted photovoltaic cells are there to convert solar energy into electricity. Its water-efficient and energy-efficient fittings as well as green label building materials are part of their eco-friendly efforts, too.
In case you’re thinking of buying a property here, South Beach Residences is nestled in the upper half of the South Tower. There are 190 luxurious units and penthouses from levels 23 to 45. These amazing homes feature 360 degree panoramic views of the CBD skyline.

Luxury meets sustainability at Corals at Keppel Bay
A seafront home represents the height of luxury in the local property market. But just as humans need homes to live in, marine life also needs corals in order to thrive. This is why marine conservation and cultivation was an important consideration for Keppel Land’s in the process of building Corals at Keppel Bay, its newest luxury development which elegantly combines seafront splendour and urban glamour.
The upcoming Corals at Keppel Bay development comprises 366 luxurious waterfront homes designed by world-renowned master architect Daniel Libeskind. Corals at Keppel Bay is located along the historic King’s Dock, which first opened in 1913 and is one of Singapore’s oldest docks. It is also one of the richest areas in the country in terms of biodiversity. Aside from providing outstanding facilities at Corals at Keppel Bay, the developer has also been proactive in the conservation and propagation of corals within the King’s Dock area, with the aim of helping build a thriving ecosystem within Keppel Bay.
“True to its name, Corals at Keppel Bay, apart from featuring world-class waterfront homes, also provides an underwater sanctuary for marine life to thrive,” says Tan Swee Yiow, President (Singapore), Keppel Land.
Boosting biodiversity at Keppel Bay
Harvested coral fragments from donor corals are first attached to nursery tables. Once grown, the hard corals are taken from Keppel Land’s nursery and are transplanted to King’s Dock.
A corals cultivation survey conducted by Keppel Land showed that Keppel Bay is currently home to a vibrant aquatic community comprising corals, butterflyfish, common seahorse, and sea urchins, with the threatened Tiger Tail Seahorse a regular visitor to the waters. Rebecca Tan, model and marine life enthusiast, discovered firsthand how Keppel Land has spearheaded the corals cultivation process at King’s Dock.
Luxury living at its finest
Over half of the 366 luxurious seafront homes at Corals at Keppel Bay have already been sold as of end-2015. Homeowners at Corals at Keppel Bay may choose from a range of one- to four-bedroom apartments and penthouses with sizes ranging from 600 to 7,900 square feet.
In addition to generously sized units with floor-to-ceiling windows and spacious balconies, amenities at Corals at Keppel bay are just as lavish, with lifestyle facilities that include an Olympic length swimming pool, a clubhouse with a multi-purpose studio, function rooms and a gym, recreational amenities and leisure boat charter services to access neighbouring islands.
The development provides breathtaking views of the marina as homeowners stroll across the magnificent Keppel Bay Bridge. Corals at Keppel Bay is conveniently situated along Singapore’s vibrant southern shores, just minutes from premium entertainment, dining and shopping spots. Urban delights at VivoCity and Resorts World Sentosa are a mere stone’s throw away, while the natural splendour of the iconic Mount Faber is just a short jog away. Corals at Keppel Bay is conveniently serviced by the HarbourFront MRT station, providing unmatched convenience and world class recreation for its homeowners.
This is Corals at Keppel Bay, where true waterfront living begins.
